The Bring Down Blues-letter

(the webpage formerly known as the Blue State Blues-letter)

The Bring Down Blues-letter is a compilation of Obama Administration happenings and where they rank on the CHANGE-meter

(as opposed to the BSB which was a compilation of crazy unconstitutional and immoral shit the Bush-Cheney junta pulled and assorted commentary and links on the subject of Bush-Cheney suckitude)

Zieg Heil to the president Gasman; Bombs away is your punishment; Pulverize the Eiffel towers; Who criticize your government… —Green Day

Bush-Nation, a nation in distress, what was so bad about it?

"He knew who I was, at that time, because I had a reputation as a writer. I knew he was part of the Bush dynasty. But he was nothing, he offered nothing, and he promised nothing. He had no humor. He was insignificant in every way and consequently I didn't pay much attention to him. But when he passed out in my bathtub then I noticed him. I'd been in another room talking to the bright people. I had to have him taken away." -Hunter S. Thompson on meeting George W. Bush at Thompson's Super Bowl party in Houston in 1974

Dubya, the Worst President Ever

He's a plain-speaking simple guy from Texas who just happens to represent one of the largest and most malicious special interest groups in this country.

No one wants special interest groups involved with their government.  Bush-Cheney are a special interest group.

Well, it's not even over yet but the votes are already in...Dubya's the winner.  Worst of all time.

 Worst President Ever

but a lot of us already saw this one coming...

You shouldn't mix evangelical Christianity with representative democracy, especially when you don't really do more than pay lip service to either one.

From a July 9, 2007 Democracy Now interview w/ Ralph Nader

AMY GOODMAN: Does George W. Bush matter anymore?

RALPH NADER: Yeah, he matters, because he’s a national security menace. He’s a destroyer of our Constitution, a violator of our statutes, a revoker of our regulations. He’s a war monger. He’s a war criminal, clinically a war criminal. And he’s still in charge.

Dan Abrams of MSNBC takes on the Bush Administration's perversion of the Justice Department in the videos below.  The "take-away" is plain and simple: Bush Justice is justice for white folks, Christians and especially corporations.  Part Two of Abrams series deals with Signing Statements and the Imperial power they suggest.  But he already told us he's The Decider, right?!

On Wednesday April 5th, 2006 I shouted angrily at the Liar-in-Chief's Limo in Bridgeport, CT.  He was in CT to discuss health savings accounts to an invite-only, friendly audience.  More than thirty-eight civilians were killed by things like car-bombs, gun fire and some just turned up dead with execution-style bullet wounds, on April fourth and fifth in George Bush's middle east democracy experiment called Iraq; but inside the venue in Bridgeport on April fifth, Dubya was received warmly and according to media reports, there was not one word mentioned about Iraq.

Both Dubya and Cheney should have been impeached long ago and I still hold out some hope for it to happen...

But, if only he'd come clean with the American people...

What if he was held accountable for all those deaths; Ours and Theirs?  And what if he had to atone for them publicly?  Like some puritanical form of community service for the nation's Chief Executive?  He'd have to plainly state the case against him on his placard for all to see, in his own hand.  I figure it would look something like this:

PUBLIC PENANCE FOR DUBYA IN ATLANTIC CITY

Why Atlantic City, New Jersey?  Mainly, it's because I had a decent photo of the Boardwalk and I just stuck Dubya into it using Photoshop, because when you look into who's dying in Iraq by US state, Jersey has lost 75 citizens in Iraq thus far*, far fewer than the states who've lost the most.  California, Texas, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and Florida, in descending order of most lives lost, have lost more than twice Jersey's body count.  So it's only fair that all Americans could get to see our penitent leader atone in person, so availability from sea-to-shining-sea is important.  But I figured the Jersey Shore is a good place to kick off a tour and the Boardwalk would be a good public place, so without further adieu let Dubya start his Public Penance Pilgrimage 2009: No One Repents like a Republican Tour!!

Presidential Politics

How much of a choice really is it?

"Washington DC is corporate occupied territory.  the democratic and republican candidates are fighting against one another to see who is going to go into the white house and start taking orders from their corporate paymasters.  when are we going to understand that either the people are going to control our government or we're e going to cede control increasingly to global corporations that have no allegiance to America, no allegiance to communities other than to control them or abandon them as they see fit to communist china with the industries, or elsewhere... And there are only a tiny handful of politicians who will raise the banner of subordinating corporate power to the sovereignty of the American people.  The debates are sterile.  The debates are exercises in parallel news conferences repeating ad infinitum the same words and phrases of evasion.  The will not confront the corporate crime wave.  The will not confront the destruction of our democracy.  they will not confront the usurpation of our electoral processes.  Even though they could go back to Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and others who have condemned corporate power as a perilous threat to even a modest democratic society." -Ralph Nader
